The form is horizontal — wide, low, cave-shaped — the jagged resin ceiling catching light from within while the astronaut sits on a rocky ledge at the left, legs out, completely still. The Earth floats to the right at eye level, green and blue, close enough that the continents are visible. The galaxy behind it runs from deep black at the edges through blue and pink nebula at the center, star-scattered, a few small asteroids drifting between the astronaut and the planet he is looking at. The natural wood fills the lower half of the cave in dark red, the rock formations rising from it on both sides in white crystal resin that catches the light from below.

The horizontal form changes everything about how this lamp sits in a room. It does not stand up and announce itself. It rests. It takes up space the way a landscape takes up space — wide, low, present. The astronaut inside it does the same thing.

Each lamp is made by hand in Hanoi, Vietnam. The astronaut and Earth figures are positioned inside the horizontal cave-form resin before the galaxy layers are poured around them — blue, pink, and black pigment built up slowly, star scatter added, the crystal rock formations detailed along the top edge. The natural wood is inlaid across the lower half, chosen for its deep red grain. Because every piece is handmade, the exact shape of the cave ceiling, the star scatter, and the wood grain are never identical. What arrives is the only one built exactly this way.
